Art Service, Food Service; We All Fall Down

Food service is fundamentally not too far off from the way art service works in that every naive child whose viewing it wants you to serve it correctly to them, whatever the fuck that means, you know?... The countless reiterations used to get it done correctly can be entirely their choice of what 'correct' means to them. And even when they have the power to deem what is correct and incorrect, they are most likely not going to be completely honest with you that it was 'correct'. It's a little bit like serving coffee where a little caffeine wakes the mind up, but a whole lot ends up diminishing the time of sleep which then, diminishes the process to learn. It's so easy to walk up to an artist whether you're the customer or client and say "correct" and "wrong"; because you are under the impression that you are in complete control of that judgement of the piece. You can just walk into some gallery space, indulge in 3 or 4 shapes and patterns and rip it up to shreds as if it was cardboard. (not to say cardboard can't be artistic)


So,the exercise of telling people to go fuck themselves becomes integrated in your routine. You, being the artist, didn't want this of course but it escalated; it happened.. And now, you end up taking it upon yourself that you couldn't get their whiny food service orders correct. And, decide to tell them next time they enter your store that they can go on ahead and "make their own damn sandwich". And, after these kids attempt to try and make their own damn sandwich, they actually are making progress, all of a sudden. They've learned to finally cut the sandwich in half instead of fourths like mommy and daddy did on the weekends when they stayed home from work to spend time with them and help them.


Now these little kids all grown up can cut the fucking sandwich in two and you no longer have to do a damn thing. You can just sit back, relax, and watch them eat the damn sandwich.
